It is with great sadness that we note the passing of our friend and colleague, Prof. Karol Derwich.
Karol taught the Latin America and Europe: Past and Present of a Special Relationship for close to a decade within the Euroculture programme, and helped to inspire and accompany students during the seminars and as a thesis supervisor. One student recently asked him, why is Polish academia so good at Latin America Studies? Karol told him to be patient and that he would tell them later in the course. Part of the answer, we believe, was to be found in Karol himself. He will be dearly missed.
