BETA Europe, in cooperation with the Association of International and Area Studies (AIAS) and Koło Naukowe Europeistyki of the Jagiellonian University, invite to a Panel Discussion about the European Parliament Elections.

The event will help you understand the impact and dynamics of the elections and give you a chance to participate in an interactive debate with experts from the field of European Politics!

The European Elections 2019 are approaching quickly the outcome of these elections will have an impact Europe !

The event will help you understand the impact and dynamics of the elections, especially for young people, and participate in a debate with experts from the field of European Politics! We will discuss a wide range of issues relevant to all young Europeans, including

  • The role and importance of participation of young people in the European Elections 2019
  • Existing societal divisions (east-west, young-old, urban-rural, rich-poor etc.) and their potential impact on the future composition and decision making of the European Parliament
  • Visions for the future and how voting in the European Elections 2019 directly contributed to shaping future priorities and policy decisions;

We will be joined by Mr. Jan Truszczyński (Chief negotiator for Poland’s EU accession), Dr. Natasza Styczyńska (Assistant professor at Center of European Studies, Jagiellonian University) and Karolina Zbytniewska (editor in-chief of EURACTIV Polska) as expert speakers on the topic.

  • Jan Truszczyński is a long-time diplomat, who well known for his position as chief negotiator for Poland’s EU accession and deputy Foreign Office Minister (2001-2005). From 2007 until his retirement in summer 2014, he held senior management positions in the European Commission (including DDG in ELARG and EAC and DG EAC).   • Dr. Natasza Styczyńska is Assistant Professor at the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the Jagiellonian University and has extensively researched the issues of European discourse of Polish political parties and Euroscepticism.   • Mrs. Karolina Zbytniewska is known for a wide range of journalistic work of European Politics and has covered a broad variety of topics relating to the European Union and has previously worked in the European Parliament (https://www.euractiv.pl/zespol/) .

 

Attendance is free of charge, and open to all public without registration. The event will be conducted fully in English.
