The thematic issue aims to analyse the Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union in its complexity and therefore targets a wide spectrum of possible contributions. It is interested in papers on the presidency itself, its media coverage, its connection to broader social and economic aspects of Slovak and European society, and the way in which it handles different domestic and international issues including “Brexit” and the refugee crisis. The papers can also analyse the limitations of small EU member states like Slovakia to hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU, or the role which administration and political leadership play within the Presidency. Broader social and political issues connected to multiple EU crises can also be examined. The thematic issue welcomes comparative papers as well as analyses of different strategies and preferences of Slovakia during the Presidency and in the preceding period. Other issues are also welcomed; thematic issue editors encourage interested authors to contact them with topic proposals.
