Seminar "Mediation as an inclusive and sustainable method of resolving conflicts" part 2

Seminar "Mediation as an inclusive and sustainable method of resolving conflicts" part 2

11 June, at the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University, we hosted mediators from an international research team sharing their experience on mediation in EU and non-EU countries.

As part of the seminar "Mediation as an inclusive and sustainable method of resolving conflicts", Dr. Lara Pair discussed the role of mediation in the Swiss legal system, the stages of mediation proceedings and the requirements that mediators should meet.

Alina Serhieieva, Chairwoman of the Ukrainian Section of the European Judges Group for Mediation (GEMME), presented the process of conducting mediation in Ukraine and the challenges that mediators in this country face in the ongoing war.

Dr. Małgorzata Skawińska told the seminar participants about the legal basis for mediation in Poland and the conditions necessary for effective conflict resolution through mediation.

The seminar and the lively discussion that followed the presentations were moderated by Dr. Marta Pietras-Eichberger from ISE UJ.

Yesterday's seminar was part of a project co-organised by prof. Kinga Anna Gajda, and was financed by the strategic programme Excellence Initiative at the Jagiellonian University.

We would like to thank the speakers and all participants for engaging in a very stimulating discussion!
