It is our great pleasure to host Prof. José Briceño-Ruiz from the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CIALC) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) as a visiting scholar within the Erasmus Mundus MA in Euroculture programme at the Institute of European Studies.

Join us for the celebration of Europe Day! This year’s programme kicks off on 7 May with a lecture by former Prime Minister of Slovakia, Prof. Iveta Radičová. The following day, we invite you to enjoy a diverse programme of activities, including an Oxford-style debate organised by student societies of the Institute of European Studies, student podcast presentations, a football match, the announcement of the photography competition results, as well as a barbecue picnic and a game of pétanque.

Friday, 8 May 2026 has been designated as a day free from teaching activities for students across all programmes at the Institute of European Studies (under the Director’s discretionary hours). This decision is linked to the celebration of 🇪🇺 Europe Day - a long‑standing tradition of our Institute - which this year also forms part of the 25th anniversary of the Faculty. Students are warmly encouraged to take part in the events.

Professor Radka Svarickova from the Faculty of History at the University of Olomouc will give a guest lecture on 12 May 2026 at 13:15, entitled ‘Beyond sight: Multisensory experiences in Poland’s Second World War museums’.
The lecture will take place in room 543.

Join us for a guest lecture From Liberal Democracy to European Illiberalism, to be delivered by Professor Iveta Radičová, former Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic. The lecture will take place on Thursday, 7 May at 14:45, in Room 038. Following the lecture, there will be a discussion with Prof. Przemysław Tacik, followed by a Q&A session.
