We concluded the #TED4UJ_ISE series with a meeting featuring Prof. Teresa Sasińska‑Klas – a distinguished expert in media and politics, and the founding Director of the Institute of Journalism, Media and Social Communication at the Jagiellonian University. On this occasion, students of the Faculty of International and Political Studies had the opportunity to attend a lecture and engage in discussion on the Security Action for Europe programme.

From June 1-3, 2026, Institute of European Studies hosted the conference "The Legacy of the Big Bang EU Enlargement: Lessons Learned and Future Prospects." This was the first conference within the ENLARGE project, coordinated by the University of Bologna, of which ISE is one of the partners.

On 26 May 2026, the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University had the pleasure of hosting representatives of the Poznań Science and Technology Park (PPNT), at the invitation of Prof. Krzysztof Koźbiał (UJ). The visitors included Prof. Dominika Narożna (UAM), Dr Justyna Adamska and Dr Dawid Zieliński. PPNT operates within the Adam Mickiewicz University Foundation and plays a key role in supporting start-ups, facilitating the commercialisation of knowledge and technology, promoting sustainable development, and advancing science communication.

As part of the #TED4UJ_ISE series, the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University hosted a meeting with Judge Joanna Hetnarowicz‑Sikora, who spoke to our students about the practical functioning of the Court of Justice of the European Union and its significance for Member States, citizens and national courts. We would like to thank our guest for an engaging and inspiring session.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting students from the Human Rights Studies in Politics, Law and Society programme at Hochschule Fulda. We prepared a programme that included a presentation of our Institute and its English-taught degree programmes, a series of lectures, as well as study visits to the Multicultural Centre in Kraków and the WIOSNA Association. The visit also featured a tour of Kazimierz and a picnic with our students.

On 22 May 2026, students from our Institute had the opportunity to take part in the unique “Night of Courts” event, during which they were able to gain first-hand insight into the functioning of the justice system and participate in a simulated mediation. Through workshops and practical exercises, students experienced the crucial role that communication, negotiation and the ability to build mutual understanding play in resolving disputes.

We are pleased to announce the establishment of cooperation between the Institute of European Studies and the Polish Enclave in Brazil – an initiative actively engaged in supporting the Polish diaspora in Brazil, particularly in the region of Áurea, often referred to as the “Polish capital of Brazil”.

The Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University has signed a cooperation agreement with EUROPE DIRECT Małopolska – a regional information point within the European Commission’s network, dedicated to promoting knowledge about the European Union and supporting civic dialogue.

On 27 May, we had the opportunity to host participants of a meeting dedicated to sites of memory of the Roma genocide, organised in collaboration with the Centre for Roma History and Culture.

On 21 May 2026, another meeting in the Europe over Tea series took place, this time focusing on the Netherlands. The event was organised by the European Studies Students’ Association at the Jagiellonian University and held online.
