Relaunch of the journal Euro-Facta

With great pleasure and a strong sense of anticipation that has accompanied us for some time, we are pleased to announce the relaunch of the academic journal Euro-Facta, published by the Institute of European Studies at Jagiellonian University. The return of the journal—whose first issue appeared in 2008—marks an important moment for the academic community engaged in European studies, as well as for all those interested in cultural, social, legal and political transformations in Europe.

Meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Strategy Department

On 24 April, we met with representatives of the Strategy Department of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the key priorities of the Strategy of Polish Foreign Policy for 2026–2030. The meeting, attended by students and staff, took place at the Faculty of International and Political Studies of the Jagiellonian University.

Book Meeting: The Mnemonic Warriors of the European Far Right, eds. J. Sondel-Cedarmas, G. Pożarlik

The Library Meeting held at the Faculty of International and Political Studies of the Jagiellonian University on 27 April was devoted to a discussion of mnemonic warriors, the difficult legacies of the non-democratic systems of the twentieth century, and the politicisation of memory.

End-of-Year Ceremony at the Fourth Upper Secondary School

The Director of the Institute of European Studies at Jagiellonian University, Prof. Kinga Gajda, together with the Institute’s secondary school liaison coordinator, Prof. Tadeusz Kopyś, attended the formal end-of-year ceremony for final-year students and the farewell event for graduates of the Tadeusz Kościuszko Fourth Upper Secondary School in Kraków.

Guest Lecture | Namatai Kwekweza: MEMENTO: Memory, Hope and the Birth of a New Order

On 22 April, our Institute hosted an event entitled “Memory, Hope and the Birth of a New Order”, devoted to the structural transformation of the international system in the twenty-first century. The event was organised by the International Youth Think Tank in cooperation with WELEAD Trust, with the support of the German Africa Foundation and the Institute of European Studies, as well as two student societies: the Jagiellonian University European Studies Student Society and the African and Middle Eastern Student Society.

A book meeting: Prof. Saygun Gökarıksel 'Moral Autopsy. Truths, Secrets, and the Judicial Afterlives of Communist Secret Service Archives'

On Tuesday, 21 April 2026, Prof. Saygun Gökarıksel came home to his old Alma Mater at the Institute of European Studies of the Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie to talk about his recent book Moral Autopsy. Truths, Secrets, and the Judicial Afterlives of Communist Secret Service Archives (Cambridge University Press, 2025).

Europe Day 2026

Join us for the celebration of Europe Day! This year’s programme kicks off on 7 May with a lecture by former Prime Minister of Slovakia, Prof. Iveta Radičová. The following day, we invite you to enjoy a diverse programme of activities, including an Oxford-style debate organised by student societies of the Institute of European Studies, student podcast presentations, a football match, the announcement of the photography competition results, as well as a barbecue picnic and a game of pétanque.

Conference: “The Cultural Heritage of Roma Communities in Poland and Its Protection” at the Senate of the Republic of Poland

On 21 April 2026, Prof. Kinga Gajda, Director of the Institute of European Studies, represented our Institute at the conference entitled “The Cultural Heritage of Roma Communities in Poland and Its Protection”. The event was organised by the Senate Committee on Culture and Media of the Republic of Poland, in cooperation with the Association of Roma in Poland and an Institute of European Studies stakeholder, the Roma History and Culture Centre in Oświęcim.
