On 10 March 2026, we launched the TED4UJ_ISE expert lecture series, organised in cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Poland. Our inaugural speaker, Dr Jarosław Pietras — Team Europe Direct expert and former Deputy Chief Negotiator for Poland’s EU accession — delivered a talk on “European Institutions in Challenging Times”, highlighting the key issues currently facing the European Union.

We are pleased to announce that the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University has signed a cooperation agreement with Common Ground Research Networks, based at the University of Illinois Research Park, to organise the prestigious International Conference on the Inclusive Museum. The conference will take place in Kraków on 13–15 September 2027, with the Institute serving as its host institution.

During the conference “Cross-Border Functional Areas: Development Through Knowledge”, a cooperation agreement was signed between our Institute and the Carpathian Euroregion Association. Established in 1993 in Debrecen, the Carpathian Euroregion is the largest euroregion in Europe and was created to strengthen cross-border collaboration across the Carpathian area.

On 3 March, experts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with students from the Jagiellonian University’s Faculty of International and Political Studies to present key details of the ongoing AD5 Graduates competition for entry‑level policy officer positions in the EU institutions, open until 10 March.

In December 2025 we kicked-off the project "The Transformation of Welfare States in V4 Region“ in which researchers from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Jagiellonian University in Krakow, the University of Debrecen, and Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica will explore new trends in the development of Central European welfare states and their impact on society.

An ethnographic institution of regional significance, the Museum of Folk Culture in Kolbuszowa is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the cultural heritage of the Lasowiak and Rzeszowiak communities. Its collections offer a rich portrayal of traditional rural life, showcasing historic wooden architecture, artisanal crafts, folk attire, and a range of material and spiritual heritage. The Museum also undertakes extensive educational and research activity, engaging diverse audiences with the history and cultural traditions of the region.

On 26 January, Professor Kinga Anna Gajda and Professor Tadeusz Kopyś signed a partnership agreement on behalf of the Institute of European Studies with the Centre for the History and Culture of Roma in Oświęcim. The Centre, a cultural institution, is dedicated to researching, documenting and promoting knowledge about the history, culture and heritage of Roma communities in Poland. It undertakes educational, curatorial and community‑focused activities, highlighting the centuries‑long presence of Roma in the region, their rich cultural traditions and the tragic chapters of their past, including the Romani Holocaust.

Participants on the ‘The (New) Museum’ course at the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University have prepared a participatory programme for exploring the at the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków current exhibitions.

On Friday evening, 23 January, we had the pleasure of listening to a series of fascinating presentations delivered by students of the English-language Euroculture Krakow programme at the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University.
