On 16 October, the nationwide scientific conference “Where Are You, Europe?” was held at the headquarters of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU) in Kraków. The event was devoted to assessing the state of contemporary Europe and its capacity to address the challenges arising from a rapidly changing international environment. It brought together leading scholars and experts specialising in geopolitics, demography, economics, culture, and European integration.

On 13 October 2026, as part of Mediation Week, the Institute of European Studies at Jagiellonian University hosted a workshop on conflict and dispute management within organisations, organised with the involvement of Dr Marta Pietras-Eichberger. The workshop explored the causes of misunderstandings in organisational settings, the mechanisms through which they escalate, and the stages at which a simple difference of opinion can develop into an open conflict.

On 8 October this year, Prof. Jan Brzozowski delivered a session for students from the St Raphael Kalinowski School Complex No. 1 in Kraków entitled “Do Immigrants Integrate?”

At the beginning of October, students from our Polish- and English-taught programmes stepped out of the classroom into Kraków’s parks for our European Studies Outdoor Integration – Get to Know Kraków and Each Other! This year, we took inspiration from Kraków Parks Explorer (Odkrywca Krakowskich Parków), an initiative by the Kraków Municipal Greenery Authority that encourages people to explore the city's green spaces. 

Join us for a meeting with Vladimír Bilčík, Senior Fellow at GLOBSEC and former Member of the European Parliament, on 27 October at 15:45 in Room 015. The event will provide an opportunity to discuss the issue of European Union enlargement, with particular attention to the Western Balkans, especially Montenegro and Serbia. The discussion will also address the political situation in Serbia in the immediate aftermath of the parliamentary elections held on 25 October.
