Partnership agreement with the Centre for the History and Culture of Roma in Oświęcim
On 26 January, Professor Kinga Anna Gajda and Professor Tadeusz Kopyś signed a partnership agreement on behalf of the Institute of European Studies with the Centre for the History and Culture of Roma in Oświęcim. The Centre, a cultural institution, is dedicated to researching, documenting and promoting knowledge about the history, culture and heritage of Roma communities in Poland. It undertakes educational, curatorial and community‑focused activities, highlighting the centuries‑long presence of Roma in the region, their rich cultural traditions and the tragic chapters of their past, including the Romani Holocaust.

The 1956 Hungarian Revolution – a lecture for students of the 5th Secondary School
On 28 January 2026, Dr Tadeusz Kopyś gave a lecture to students from the 5th Secondary School, a long‑standing partner of the Institute of European Studies. Although centred on the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, the lecture also touched on broader aspects of Hungary’s twentieth‑century history. After the talk, Dr Kopyś answered numerous questions from the students. We would like to thank everyone involved for an inspiring and engaging session!

On 11 January 2026, the Institute of European Studies signed a cooperation agreement with the “Ruska Bursa” Association, based in Gorlice—one of the key institutions shaping the cultural and social life of the Lemkos (Carpathian Rusyns) in Poland.

A lecture for students from the Tadeusz Kościuszko IV Secondary School in Kraków
On 15 January 2026, Dr Tadeusz Kopyś met with students from the Tadeusz Kościuszko IV Secondary School in Kraków as part of a lecture series organised for partner schools by the Institute of European Studies. The students participated in a two-hour session focusing on the political system of Hungary and the Hungarian Revolution of autumn 1956.
